Ian has over 20 years experience in Senior Management and consulting roles, with a focus on performance improvement/ business turnaround, organisational change, management systems and strategy.  He has consulted in Australia, South America and Asia in mining, metals processing, forest products, construction, electronics, consumer goods and retail including 5 years with McKinsey & Company.  Ian has held senior general and financial management roles in Consumer Electronics, Telecommunication Services and Equipment in Australia, Asia and North America.

CAREER SNAPSHOT

Improvement Projects:

  • Hard Rock Mining:  13% increase in throughput through improved planning, increased equipment utilisation and rate
  • Hard Rock Mining:  20% increase in tonnes hoisted through debottlenecking
  • Steel Mill: 48% increase in prime throughput over 12 months, through increased speed, reduced downtime and improved quality.
  • Consumer Electronics: US$250mpa profit improvement over 3 years through product rationalisation, customer/margin management, manufacturing/component cost reduction, overhead reduction and balance sheet restructuring.
  • Computer Manufacturer:  Successful turnaround based on refocusing from desktops to notebook.
  • Capital Project:  Reduction of schedule and cost over runs.

  • President – North American Consumer Electronics company with responsibility from R&D through to sales and customer support
  • Vice President, Business Improvement – Chairman’s Office, LG Group (Seoul, Korea) supporting improvement initiatives across the group.
  • CFO – Listed Telecommunications Company with operations in Asia, Europe and Australia 

Prior to undertaking his MBA, Ian was a Business Services Partner in an international accounting firm and assisted small and emerging businesses, companies completing IPOs, listed Australian companies and multinationals.

Qualifications                                                                     

Ian completed his Masters of Business Administration at the Australian Graduate School of Management and received the CUB Award of Distinction (top 10%).  He completed his Bachelor of Business at the Queensland Institute of Technology and is a Chartered Accountant.

Ian spends his spare time with his wife and two young children enjoying the wonders of Australia and travelling.
