SERGIO GONZÁLEZ ANDIÓN

Sergio has over 20 years consulting experience and 7 years corporate board level management experience in industrial and retailing sectors.  He includes significant project experience in Corporate Strategy, Business Unit Strategy, Sales Force Management, Operational Improvements and Cost reduction, Marketing Strategy and Top Management Organization for clients in Spain, Portugal, France, Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico.     

CAREER SNAPSHOT

At Bain and Co. from Jun 2003 to 2007, Sergio was a Senior Principal responsible for developing the Energy, Industrial and Retail practices in Spain and Portugal.  He was part time in this role, chosing to pursue his private equity interests for the remainder of his time, which included evaluation, negotiation and management of investment opportunities and collaborating with top Private Equity funds in Spain and Portugal.               

From 2002 to 2003 Sergio was President of Socelpac, Sonae´s Division for containerboard and corrugated board, Sawmills, Forestry related businesses, and recycled wood.  In 2002 this division had sales of €270m, assets of €340m and 1,100 personnel.
From 1998 to 2001 Sergio was Vicepresident of  Sonae Industria and Tafisa and Chairman of the Board of Glunz A.G., Isoroy, Sonae U.K., Tafisa Canada and Sonae South Africa.  The group’s figures for 2001 were: sales €1,500m, assets €1,660m and 8,900 personnel.  Investments from 1997 to 2001 totaled:  €1,300m

At Sonae from 1996 to 2003, Sergio filled a number of senior management/board level roles within the group.  In 1996 Sergio was appointed Executive Board member of Sonae Retalho Especializado.  During this time he launched specialized retailing businesses: Sports, Computers, House Decor, Office materials, Construction materials/Bricolage.  In 1997 he was appointed Managing Director of Sonae Industria and Tafisa.  The group boasted sales of €325m, assets of €305m and 2,100 personnel. 

From 1987 to 1995, Sergio was a partner at McKinsey and Co. and gained significant experience in Process Industries (Energy, Steel, Cement and Petrochemicals), and Consumer Goods/Retailing.  The nature of the projects were predominantly Corporate Strategy, Business Unit Strategy, Sales Force Management, Operational Improvements and Cost reduction, Marketing Strategy and Top Management Organization

At McKinsey and Co. from 1979 to 1986, Sergio was an associate and engagement manager, working in Mexico and Madrid.  His highlights included projects in the Energy Sector, Steel, Cement, Consumer Goods, Telecommunications, Mining, Chemicals and Petrochemicals and the  Fishing Industry. 

EDUCATION

Sergio hold a Masters Degree in Business Administration, from Louvain Universtiy in Belgium and a Bachelors in Electro-Mechanical Engineering (major in Industrial Engineering), from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico.
