TOBIAS BYRON

Tobias Byron

RECENT EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

  • Led initial turnaround work on a distressed mining client. To date, team has identified $500m in cost savings that are currently being rolled out by PIP support.
  • Led a 10-person cost reduction team to transform a leading Western Australian manufacturing/assembly company. The goal was to reduce costs by 30%, to achieve parity with Asian competitors. The six-month goal ($20m in pipeline) was achieved in less than 3 months, by redesigning the organisational structure, roles and accountabilities, implementing tight performance management, and re-engineering key processes.
  • Implemented a large Lean transformation within a government owned Telecom company, with prioritization on halving the delivery time and at the same time reduce costs and increase employee satisfaction. The work included training the client personnel change agents, who are now rolling out the Lean way of working to the rest of the organization by themselves
  • Led a Lean optimisation of a plant for an international telecom satellite hardware client (delivering to NATO, CNN etc). Delivery precision was significantly improved and unit costs reduced through improved workflow, introducing a new way of controlling parts and drawings, and the elimination of critical bottlenecks.
  • Designed, piloted and implemented a lean-based transformation program at two call centres. Result was increased quality and throughput, with a 50% reduction of the workforce within three months.
  • Led a Lean team of 17 at a steel client, achieving productivity increases of 300% within four months. Key tasks were re-design of production planning, process de-bottlenecking and instalment of a world-class front line performance management system.
  • Led several large Lean turnarounds for one of Scandinavia’s largest banks. Achieved a 30% reduction in costs whilst reducing error rates and lead times
  • Led a Lean diagnosis and a turn around design of a heavy industry automotive company. Result was a road map to save 80 MUSD within 6 months
  • Analyzed an American company’s European unit and evaluated how much impact a lean program would give. It was part of a startup of a world wide lean program.
