| Drilling services business |
Context / Scope of project
Our client, a mining products and services company with a $500 million+ market cap, was offered exclusivity on a drilling services acquisition, on the condition that the due diligence be completed within an unusually short timeframe. PIP was asked to conduct a rapid review of the business and provide commercial insight into the target's market, competitors and growth forecasts, as well as a rapid assessment of the key downside risks.
Key insights:
- Evaluated target's growth potential in Australian and international markets
- Focused assessment of client satisfaction levels, contract provisions and drill rig condition
- Assessed revenue concentration in key customers
- Evaluated operational structure and retention of key target staff
- Assessed potential for synergies with our client's business, through accelerated rollout of an integrated offering for a specific customer vertical.
Outcome:
- Client satisfied it had sufficient insight to make a decision within target's specified timeframe
- Client proceeded with acquisition of the business
