Context / scope of project :

Our client was a vertically integrated manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer of apparel, sporting goods, beds and flooring. In a dip in the retail cycle, our client asked us to assist them to identify savings in their overhead costs (excluding procurement).

Client achieved:

  • $18m of cost reduction opportunities were approved by the management team across HR, SHEQ (Safety Health Environment & Quality), Finance, Discretionary Spend (travel, telephony, consulting, postage & courier etc), Shipping and General Management.

  • Adoption of a formal Property Policy to minimise the cost impact of future office relocations.

What we did

      

Analysed client costs across all overhead categories, including FTE and non-FTE related costs

Syndicated savings opportunities with key business stakeholders, CFO, COO and CEO

Developed Idea Forms for each opportunity

Developed a formal property policy to ensure consistency and cost controls for office relocations and other property related issues

 

Gained agreement and approval of ideas from stakeholder group and a commitment to implement the changes
