Sick of absenteeism and tired of overtime?
Abstract
As the labour market tightens and the cost of labour continues to increase, absenteeism and overtime could start to dent your bottom line if left unchecked. Fortunately, these are both controllable spend levers when the right processes and controls are put in place
Absenteeism and overtime are bad at any time as they incur extra costs to cover ,
key things that need to be done don’t get done (e.g. trucks parked up in mines due to no driver), those working over time (to cover abscence or to increase take home pay) can be tired or inexperienced in the roles creating safety and productivity issues. Today, in a market which is tighter for people, you need to manage these levers more tightly to ensure the costs don’t rise and the associated costs (safety risks and lost tonnes for example) don’t manifest.
